An update on our current position after the announcement by the Scottish Government-we will be open over the next 2 weeks for anyone who wishes to practice or for any under 18s who want to get some training time with their team mates -Please see belowThe ice rinks in five health board areas including Greater Glasgow and Clyde (Greenacres) have new restrictions placed upon them.
These temporary measures are planned to last for 16 days starting for licensed premises at 18:00 on Friday 9 October and at 00:01 on Saturday 10 October for all other restrictions (including curling). These restrictions will last until Sunday 25 October inclusive. This means that all games planned for Friday 9 October will take place.Greenacres will then remain open throughout this period but with very restricted arrangements in place which will require to be confirmed in advance of arrival at the club.
We can offer curling to limited groups by prior arrangement if the group is able to comply with the new regulations which mean a maximum of 6 people from a maximum of 2 households can play if anybody +18 years of age is involved. We can also offer practice ice by prior arrangement.Access and egress to the premises during this time will be via the door leading into the lounge at the top of the ramp in the upper car park.
At Greenacres the above means that no club games as previously booked by curling clubs are possible. We will circulate further information to club secretaries shortly regarding the cancelled ice throughout the 16 day period. We understand that the lounge may be able to offer non-alcoholic beverages and snack food up to 6.00pm during this period but as this service is mainly ancillary to curling we also understand that this option is unlikely to be relevant to most of our members.
As the period includes school holidays we are looking at some initiatives for our juniors.Specifically in regard to Greenacres I am pleased to say we will not remove ice at this time and will be ready to start again on Monday 26 October. If anybody has any questions arising from the above please contact me at your convenience.I hope all members stay safe and well at this difficult time and look forward to welcoming you back as soon as possible.
